Integrative Medicine: A Clinician's Journal (IMCJ): Looking back at your early years, in med school and as a physician, what gave you the feeling that maybe your education offered only part of the potential tools available? Dr Benda: I'm going to take this back a little bit earlier than med school. As a child of the '60s and early '70s, attending college from '71 to '75, my generation and genre is that of the counterculture revolution. The philosophies, ideologies, and music of the time have all stuck with me throughout the years, even to the present day. That fact, in itself, lends to a more integrative approach to any clinical, political, or social issue.
